Contact: enslinmm@miamioh.edu

My name is Matthew Enslin and I am St. Mary Catholic Campus Ministry’s President for the 2020-2021 academic year. I am a Senior Accountancy major in the Farmer School of Business, and I am a Student Manager at Miami University’s Aquatic Center. I have served on the CCM Board since my freshman year. I’ve led the same Sunday night small faith group for about three years straight, I’ve been a part of the planning and leading of multiple St. Mary’s retreats as a part of the Retreat Team, and last year I served as a Co-Vice President on the Executive Team. I am so excited to bring students closer to Christ this year and encourage spiritual growth, connecting everyone together through this ministry!

You can usually find me at every 8:30 PM Sunday Mass, on the left side of the aisle about 4 pews back from the front. Ask me about my faith, my experiences as a Catholic college student, my first time on a plane, my family, my career ambitions, photography, the outdoors, my favorite
quote, my favorite Saint, or any sort of creative things you come up with. Feel free to reach out to me whenever you’d like for whatever you’d like. I’m all ears!

My favorite quote: “We are not the sum of our weaknesses and failures, we are the sum of the Father's love for us and our real capacity to become the image of His Son Jesus.” (St. Pope John Paul II) This quote speaks to both the difficult truth all Catholic Christians face and the mystery of The Mass in which our faith is built upon: Jesus died for our sins, our weaknesses, our failures so that we may feel the love that our Father has for us, share it with the world and live everlasting life with Him. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you’ve done, ALL are welcome.

Favorite Saint: To me, the choice of Saint Thomas Aquinas as my favorite Saint is a no brainer. The patron of students and scholars and a Doctor of the church, St. Thomas Aquinas was my Confirmation Saint because being a student is all I have ever really known. May he continue to light all of our paths on what may be our final scholastic journey and bring us closer to God through it all. As a side note, please go watch Matt Fradd’s “Pints with Aquinas” as he analyzes St. Thomas’s
Summa Theologica.

Executive Team

My name is Claire Dougherty and I am one of the Co-Vice Presidents for the campus ministry board this year. I am a senior information systems analytics major with an entrepreneurship co-major. When I'm not at St. Mary's, I am getting involved in Greek life, giving tours around campus, studying at Farmer, watching TikToks, reading, or hanging out with my friends.

My favorite saint is St. Michael because I have had some situations where I have received miraculous protection from my guardian angel, and it was also the name of my grade school, so thinking about him brings up a lot of fun childhood memories.

My favorite quote is from Mother Theresa when she says "Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier." It's a good reminder to me to treat people with kindness and respect as I love making people smile. :)

Say hi to me on campus or on Google Hangouts!

My name is Lydia Carter, and I am so excited to serve as one of the co-vice presidents of Catholic Campus Ministry this year!  I am a senior Statistics and Analytics major from Plain City, Ohio, and I've previously been involved with CCMB as a small faith group leader and a member of the community team.  In my free time I enjoy reading, playing euchre with my friends, and watching old Saturday Night Live sketches.

My favorite saint is also my confirmation saint, St. Frances Cabrini.  She founded dozens of hospitals, orphanages, and schools in the 19th century, and I admire her resourcefulness and dedication to helping people in need.

One of my favorite quotes is "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, on your own understanding do not rely; In all your ways be mindful of him, and he will make straight your paths,"  from Proverbs 3:5-6.  I’ve always liked this quote because it reminds us that it is impossible to control everything that happens to us, and sometimes we have to trust that the Lord has a plan.

Please come say hi at any St. Mary's events or email me!
